Chasing butterflies, chasing beauty, one afternoon I saw this Silvery checkerspot fluttering around the Black-eyed Susans in my flower bed. With camera in hand, I waited quietly for it to land. When I saw this particular pose, I thought how it looked ready to take off, poised to fly. Elton John’s song Someone Saved My Life Tonight with the lines: You’re a butterfly, and butterflies are free to fly, fly away, high away…It seemed perfectly fitting for this little one, free to fly.
