My mother is a master gardener, and her flower beds are a delightful buffet of endless color. Home for the July 4th holiday, I took advantage of her handiwork. Purple coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea–indigenous to both my home state and my adopted state) are a favorite of pollinators of all kinds, and this one was no exception. Right before I took this photo, an insect I can’t name was feasting. Always looking for fun, different views of the “same ole,” I got low and shot up, capturing the underside of the flower against the siding of the house.
