From the third floor of an outdoor music venue in downtown Nashville, I looked out over the iconic section of Nashville known as Lower Broadway. Being a suffocatingly hot Wednesday night in July, it was a little slow, but the honky tonks were alive, the neon glowing into the dark night, as the pedal taverns and party wagons rolled down the streets. Tootsies World Famous Orchid Lounge anchors the bottom left corner of the photo–as it also anchors Broadway–and the lights shine bright all the way down to the Cumberland River.
